The Wonder Wheel is the highest ferris wheel in the world. It is located in Coney Island. In its' heyday Coney Island was the place where the biggest and best was built. Construction started in 1918 and was completed in 1920. In 1989, it achieved landmark status. The excitement I experienced as a kid still is alive in my memory. Sitting in one of the cars looking down at the small figures below filled me with such joyous pleasure. It was as if I were sitting on the top of the world.
